Rumour has it that there might be a few phones launched at Mobile World Congress next month. Word of one handset has filtered through the internet ahead of its official announcement though, and its got us excited.
According to president of Asustek’s handheld device business unit Benson Lin the mobile pairing that brought us the (much delayed) Nuvifone, Asus and Garmin, are poised to announce their first Android-powered phone. Little is known at this stage – we don’t even know the model name – but the joint powers of Garmin, Asus and Android strapped into one device should make for a mighty pleasing handset.
If it ever gets here, that is. Let’s not forget that the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone took roughly two years to hit shelves after its initial announcement. Let’s hope this Android device doesn’t miss the boat.
Lin has also hinted at the arrival of three or four additional handsets to be announced at MWC, all rocking Windows Mobile. We’ll bring you full details when we can.
