[Tip] Easily Show Computer Name in the Taskbar in 3 Steps in Windows 7

You can go to System Properties to find out what computer name is when needed. You also can use this little tool BgInfo to create custom wallpaper with computer name stamped in it.

However, if you are like me who often manage more than one computer or run a couple of virtual machines and don’t often get chance to see the desktop, you will find having a computer name that always stay in taskbar all time can be quite handy.

Step1: Create a new folder with name the same as your computer name.

You can create it anywhere that is convenient to you. For example, now I have c:\temp\Kent-VW7.

Step 2: Right-click on the empty area in the taskbar and choose Toolbars, then New Toolbar.

Step 3: browsing through the folder and select the new folder created in Step 1 as your Toolbar and click Select Folder.

Done! And here is what the taskbar looks like with computer name embedded.
