Windows 7 service pack 1 (SP1) has already been available for downloaded via Microsoft download center and through Windows update. However, when trying to install the service pack 1, some users of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 has got issues, for example error code 0x800F0A12, FFFFFFFE. and 84C40007.
1. Error code 0x800F0A12 means, the installer cannot access the system partition of user’s computer to update files. Following are the few reasons for this situation.
The system partition isn’t automatically mounted, Windows is running on a storage area network (SAN), and a disk management tool from another software manufacturer was used to copy (or clone) the disk or partition on which you’re trying to install SP1.

2. Another issue is update error code FFFFFFFE. It means that an update can’t be installed because of a problem on your computer. This problem is usually caused by a virus infection.

3. Another Windows Update error is 84C40007 (for Windows Server 2008), which means an update to SQL Server 2008 can’t be installed because of a problem with a .NET Framework installation.
