Setup Reminders While Browsing In Google Chrome

We often get so much caught up in work that we forget other tasks. For instance working on my blogs, I often forget to do the dishes (until it is too late at night) or an appointment slips my mind. People such as me, whose computer works keeps them occupied a lot of the time, can use alarm clock applications or to-do list managing organizational programs to fix our problem. But if the only required function is a simple reminder, then the additional features of an alarm clock (such as playing an entire tune or song) or an organizational program (such as setting up our calendar or complete timetable) become excessive and redundant.

Fortunately there is a Chrome extension that serves the purpose of a simple reminding tool. The extension has been fittingly named RemindMe.

Like most other Chrome extensions, RemindMe places an icon in the Chrome address bar after installation.

Users can simply click on this icon to set up convenient reminders.

Reminders show up in the Chrome window at their set timings.

Once a reminder shows up, we can have it ‘snooze’ for a while, like in numerous alarm clock programs.

Reminder can be set in two ways: we can either specify “in” what time we should be reminded, say an hour from now, or “on” what time we should be reminded, say next week at 10am.

A reminder is missed when Chrome is not open at the time of a reminder’s execution. The number in red in the extension icon indicates the count of reminders that have been missed. If the number is in green, it indicates the number of reminder yet to come.

Reminders in RemindMe get synchronized securely between computers through the Chrome built-in “Synchronize My Bookmarks” functionality which can be enabled as described here.

We can also add a reminder to our Google Calendar by clicking on the reminder in the popup then clicking on the “Add to Google Calendar” on the newly opened reminder details page.

For its tiny size, RemindMe offers an impressive array of features which countless Chrome users can benefit from.
