Motorola, makers of the Milestone and Backflip handsets, has taken BlackBerry to the courts over alleged patent infringements.
The allegations concern BlackBerry’s use Wi-Fi access and power management technology in popular phones such as the Bold 9700.
"These patented technologies are important to Motorola as they allow for more comprehensive connectivity, a better user experience and lower product costs," Motorola said.
BlackBerry is manufactured by Canada-based Research in Motion (RIM).
The case follows a series of legal wrangles back in 2008 between the mobile giants, who accused each other of misappropriating technology. The US-based court case is still pending.
