HTC Smart lands at MWC

Not content with outing two of the best high end smartphones of MWC, the HTC Desire and HTC Legend, and winning an award from the GSMA in the process, HTC has announced the HTC Smart will be hitting the UK in April exclusively on O2.

It’s a budget smartphone that's already out in the US, and although pricing hasn’t been announced, Steve Alder from O2 said it would ship “for half the price of a current smartphone.”

HTC promises the Smart will be a stripped down smartphone that’ll be easy to use in a friendly and compact design.

It uses Qualcomm’s Brew mobile platform, launched ten years ago, with HTC’s Sense UI on top. It offers Friendstream, the one stop shop for your Facebook, Twitter and Flickr feeds, as seen on the HTC Legend and Desire.

“It’s aimed at younger people,” said Alder. “Maybe those on pay as you go who want social networking on their phone.”
