Hewlett Packard has become the first manufacturer to upgrade to USB 3.0 via its HP Envy 15 notebook, the first portable PC to feature the new energy-efficient version of USB.
Set to become the norm for all computers, USB 3.0 is said to deliver 10 times the transfer speed of USB 2.0 which has been the USB standard for our gadgets for the last 8 years.
Consumers will need to configurate USB 3.0 with the Envy’s Core i7 CPU and the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 GPU to get the full benefit of the USB upgrade.
The HP Envy with USB 3.0 ports is available now through the HP website. If you don’t fancy the Envy, you can alternatively wait a few weeks for HP’s EliteBook 8540p and 8540W models which also support the new USB standard.
