The April 3 date only covers US sales of the Apple iPad’s WiFi-only version – the 3G-capable model will hit Stateside stores at the same time it does here in late April.
The release dates are a month later than expected and come after weeks of speculation of production problems.

Apple is yet to officially announce UK pricing for the range of devices, but the entry-level model will cost $499 Stateside.
Sources close to Apple have hinted at a price around £389 UK price for the WiFi only 16Gb model.
