For the first time, a missing person has been traced through a social networking site by the Cyber Security Cell officials.
22-year-old Sachin Bondre, a native of Sangamner who had gone missing in Pune on August 16, 2007, was found in August this year with the help of the Cyber Security Cell after he visited one of his cousin’s Orkut profile.
Failure to get into the medical course twice had prompted Sachin to isolate himself and cut off all contacts with friends and family.
However, the credit goes to 24-year-old Somnath Kekan, Sachin’s cousin whose alertness and presence of mind helped.
Somnath decided to approach the Cyber Security Cell after he saw Sachin’s name among the ‘Recent visitors’ list on his Orkut profile. Somnath is doing his Masters in Civil Engineering from MIT college, in Kothrud.
