Micro-blogging site Twitter is set to add geotagging into the mix to enable you to pinpont the location of your latest update from your smartphone or portable device.
The service, which will assist Twitter’s growing niche as a source for breaking news, will go live in 2010 after the company bought up a service called GeoAPI, which was developed by two former Google employees under the umbrella of Mixer Labs.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone blogs: "When current location is added to tweets, new and valuable services emerge – everything from breaking news to finding friends or local businesses can be dramatically enhanced.
"Our efforts in this area have just begun. Today, we’re excited to announce a major new step into the location-aware future."
