Samsung have taken the pole position in the Android market with their Galaxy S. Coming at a price of Rs. 28,000, the phone boasts of a 4 inch AMOLED display, HD Video Recording, 8 or 16GB internal memory, Bluetooth 3.0 and a bunch of other features. It is powered by a 1 GHz A8 Cortex Processor and has a great connectivity options and is easily Samsung’s best phone ever. It takes the first place in our rankings.

2. HTC Desire

HTC Desire

The HTC Desire is one of the best products one can get in the market. It also runs on a 1GHz procesor and has an AMOLED display. It finishes a close second to the Galaxy S, mainly because it weighs 18 grams more, despite not having internal memory. HD recording is not available but video quality is good. HTC’s Sense UI gains the upper-hand and gives users more usability. It is priced at Rs. 28,300 and is the second best phone in our Top 10.

3. Samsung S8500 Wave

Samsung Wave is the first of phones coming out with the Bada OS. Even though its comparatively new to other platforms out there, applications have started to arrive. It is very similar to the Galaxy S, except that it has a smaller display and has a different OS. HD Videos recorded are brilliant and look . With a price tag of just Rs. 17,800, the Wave offers excellent value for money and great features. It deserves the third spot, and it is well ahead of other phones when it comes to price.

4. Sony Ericsson Satio

Ever wondered why there are cameras on mobile phones? Sony Ericsson have taken it a step further with Satio, with a 12 MP camera. It runs on Symbian S60 V5 and has a 600MHz processor to back it up. Also included in the package are HSUPA, WiFi, GPS and it also has 3.5 inch display. It costs Rs. 24,999 and is relatively cheap. The Camera and its popularity drives the Satio to 4th spot in our list.

5. HTC HD2

HTC HD2

Another HTC machine with us here. Not so long ago, when HD2 was launched, it was the best phone on the market. It is also the only Windows Mobile phone in our list. It was one of the first phones to run on a 1GHz processor. Another unique feature of the HD2 is its Dual Flash. For Windows fanatics, this is a must buy as the price has gone down to Rs. 26,000.

6. Nokia E72

Nokia E72

Nokia’s market is going down and its because of phones like the E72, they are still holding fort on top of the mobile industry. The E72 is a business class phone, just like the other models in the E series. It has a slick design, QWERTY keypad, upto 10 Push email accounts, a lot of applications thanks to the S60v3 platform, a good 5MP camera and a reasonable price of Rs.18,200. Enough said.

7. Apple iPhone 4G

I know this will bring a lot of criticism, but the Apple iPhone 4G deserves a spot in the Top 10, just for its popularity, if not anything else. The iPhone is still the most gorgeous looking phone out there and it still has that killer iPhone OS which is so user friendly. Apple have brought in the Retina display and some other good features, but have failed to correct some flaws from the previous models. As far as the price is concerned, well, you can start saving now.

8. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini PRO

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini PRO

This is another phone which is gaining a lot of popularity. Surfing the internet, you would see a lot of ads for this phone and if you look into its features, you will see that it has everything you need. Android, QWERTY and a price of Rs.14000 are the highlights of this model and like the wave, it offers excellent value for money. However, with Google coming up with updates for Android faster than ever, you might want to look into other models too.

9. HTC Legend

HTC Legend

HTC again. The fact that HTC has 3 phones in our top 10 list goes to show how good a brand they are. The Legend is an upgraded version of the hero running on Android 2.1. The Legend is available at Rs 23,000 and is a bit expensive, but it has great usability and professionalism about that which makes people buy it. Along with Desire, it has gained a lot of interest in a quick rate.

10. Nokia 5230

Nokia 5230

This is the cheapest phone is our list and that is exactly why it is here. The 5230 is easily the cheapest smartphone out there. For a price of Rs. 8200, it has Symbian S60 V5, HSDPA, GPS and a touch display. It is the smaller version of the Nokia 5800, but thanks to its price, its easily one of the best buys out there. There was a tough fight between the Samsung Monte, Nokia C5 and the 5230 and this one finally prevailed as it had both Symbian and a touch screen.
