Sony Ericsson Officially Announces The Xperia Arc Smartphone

Yesterday, we posted the leaked pics and specs of the Sony Ericsson’s upcoming phone, the Xperia Arc. Today, the company officially announced the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) powered Xperia Arc at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. Currently, Google Nexus S and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are the only smartphones powered by the latest version of the Android operating system. This handset allows you to access more than 200,000 apps from the Android Market.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc comes with a 4.2 inch multi-touch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 854 x 480 pixels resolution, 1 GHz Qualcomm processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, onscreen QWERTY keyboard, Sony Exmor R, 8.1 megapixel camera with HD (720p) video recording and so on.

Other features include a 3.5 mm audio jack, aGPS, Bluetooth, PlayNow service, TrackID music recognition app, 3D games, Motion gaming, stereo FM Radio, HDMI, DLNA, USB support, Wi-Fi, Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation, up to 512 MB internal memory, up to 32 GB expandable memory, 8 GB Memory card bundled and a 1500mAh battery.

This handset will be available in 2 different colors – Midnight Blue and Misty Silver. Xperia Arc will be available globally in selected markets, from first quarter of 2011.
