“Open With” Dialog

I just tried to open a csv file on my Vista system. Apparently Vista does
not know that Excel can open csv files. So I went to "Open With" but Excel
was not among the "Recommend Programs" nor "Other Programs". I fumbled
around and ended up with something with an Excel icon and title of "2007
Microsoft Office component" in the "Recommend Programs" list. But that
doesn’t do it. Finally now when I use the Browse button I think that I am
finding the real Excel program but it doesn’t end up in "Recommend
Programs". I’m guessing that the thing with the Excel icon and title of
"2007 Microsoft Office component" somehow is preventing the real Excel
program from being added to the "Recommend Programs."

Also, because I have sometimes opened csv files with Notepad and WordPad
they are in the "Recommend Programs."

How do I remove items from "Recommended Programs?"
