News@8pm: Nokia N8 and Facebook apology

It's been another busy day for the tech world - here's the best of the days news in digestible format:

Nokia top charts for newsworthiness today as the Finnish company not only announced their collaboration with internet giants Yahoo! to offer a range of improved services and functions, but also hinted towards the release date for their eagerly awaited Nokia N8 handset. They are clearly the world’s largest mobile manufacturer for a reason.

Apple’s big week has arrived with the anticipation to Friday’s UK iPad launch growing rapidly. Following last week’s dominance by Google and their I/O conference, Apple’s Steve Jobs has been quick to confirm something good will arrive from the Cupertino company at WWDC next month. Also on the Apple front is a set of secret snapshots claiming to show an all white Apple iPhone 4. Real or bogus, let us know what you think through Facebook or Twitter.

Privacy issues concern everyone but have been bigger news than normal recently as Facebook repeatedly comes under criticism for pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable too far. Well, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has been out apologizing today, admitting Facebook has made mistakes and ensuring that they will be rectified. It’s not just internet giants causing privacy worries, however, it has been revealed that wives are almost twice as likely to snoop through their husband’s emails and texts than the other way around.

Mobile sneak peaks are coming thick-and-fast at the moment and today is no different as both HTC and BlackBerry smartphones show their faces. The HTC Vision and Blackberry 9800 Slider both rocked up in our sights today and both sport a slide-out Qwerty keyboard. Get your typing fingers at the ready, they will be with us shortly.

Gambling iPhone Apps have previously been turned down and wormed out but Betfair has today launched the first sports gambling iPhone app just in time for the World Cup in South Africa. Whilst you are placing a bet on the final in July, the PlayStation Move could be just days away as new rumours surrounding a July launch also came across our desks in the past 24 hours.
