New Sony Cyber-shot HX series snappers unveiled

Sony’s never one to shy away from bigging up its own Cyber-shot line-up and today’s new pair of HX series efforts are no different. The Big S claims that both pack in ‘DSLR-like’ skills which will make your snaps look like they’ve been taken by a pro.

There’s no denying that the specs for the top-end HX100V and its baby bro, the HX9V, are impressive. Both pack in one-touch Full HD video recording, 16.2 megapixels, GPS for geotagging, 3D sweep panorama, 3D stills and an extra bright 3-inch LCD.

Each camera includes Optical Steadyshot which has been brought over from Sony’s Handycam camcorder range. This means you should be able to snaffle blur-free images even when zoomed in as tight as possible.

And zoom is what the HX100V is all about, with a mind-boggling 30x Carl Zeiss number which includes a special coating to eliminate flare on your pics. The HX9V drops its optical zoom to 16x, with 24mm wide angle smarts.

Both models also tout background defocus, taking two snaps in quick succession and combining the results. Throw in Intelligent Sweep Panorama for taking extreme wide angle shots by simply moving the camera from side-to-side, and you’ve got the complete package.

Both cameras are due in April, with prices currently MIA. For more on this story and the latest gadget news and gossip, hit up our Facebook and Twitter pages now.
