Fans of the Mass Effect series have double the reason to be happy: Mass Effect 2 for PS3 is set to land towards the end of January 2011 and Mass Effect 3 has been officially announced to hit stores at the end of 2011.
Bioware officially confirmed that the third installment of the sci-fi game will land in UK – quite literally – towards the end of 2011 at the Spike VGAs. Our very own Blighty made an appearance in the debut trailer, with a burning London under attack by the Reapers and Commander Shepard is needed to save the Earth. No platforms have been announced as yet.
Until we get our hands on this anticipated release, Mass Effect 2 should satisfy us. Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation 3 will arrive in Europe – including UK – on 21 January 2011, just 3 days after it releases across the pond, which Electronic Arts has confirmed to IGN.
Unfortunately the first installment of the series will not be released on PS3, staying instead as an Xbox 360 loyalist. Gamers will however find that Bioware is planning to include an interactive comic with the PS3 version to explain unmissable information from the first series. Whatever choices gamers make in the comic will transcend to the actual Mass Effect 2 gameplay.
The Blu-ray disc will also feature DLC Project Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi: Stolen Memory and the Blood Dragon Armor.
