iPhone App Review: Words with friends
Words with Friends is a Scrabble-like game that lets you play against people on your contact lists, specific users you may know, a random opponent, or even with someone at your side (a function called “pass and play”). You can also invite friends via Facebook and Twitter.
If you are familiar with Scrabble, or even if you’re not, learning Words With Friends is a breeze. Simply use your seven letters to build words off of your opponent’s words, capitalizing the the double and triple point spaces on the board.
You can play several games at once and when your opponent makes a move, you are notified by a small number on the icon itself, just like the one when you have a new email. That’s handy because you don’t have to keep checking back to see when it is your move.
iPod Touch users should note that even the pass-and-play option of this game requires an internet connection, so you must be online to make a move or see the boards.
In the free version there is a small advertisment above the dashboard of the app itself and also, after each move a mildly annoying advertisement pops up. Upgrading removes both of these.
