How to Access SharePoint from an iPhone

Mobile blogger Jason Langridge recently uncovered a gem of an application over on the iTunes App Store. Although not an officially supported Microsoft app, a company called Spyk Software has created iShare (iTunes link), an application for accessing SharePoint from an iPhone or iPod Touch.

According to the app’s description, iShare lets you browse and search through all your company files from your iPhone, including documents, lists, announcements, and meetings. You can search all of SharePoint, open and read documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, PNG/GIF/JPG), create, update, and delete list items, view and edit document metadata, and more.

The $9.99 app supports SharePoint Server 2007 and works with Office 2007, Windows SharePoint Services, and SharePoint Online. If your company hasn’t exposed SharePoint to the internet, you can first connect to your company using the iPhone’s built in VPN client then launch the app.
