GyroSynth: An Interesting Exercise in Flail-phonics

The iPhone has proven itself a worthy platform for peculiar, software-based musical instruments. With the right app, you can get your phone to imitate a guitar, an ocarina, a drumset, a sequencer, T-Pain’s autotune rig, or a couple of strangely soothing soundmakers Brian Eno helped dream up. You probably wouldn’t want to form a band using this stuff. But they can be a great deal of fun to noodle around on, provided you don’t drive the other people around you insane. And who knows, maybe the world’s just waiting for the first-ever iPhone virtuoso.
