In addition to the recently launched Piracy Watch Map App, which shows the international seafaring attacks (yes, real pirates!) on a Bing Map, the team has also now just added three more map applications, this time involving more domestic concerns: gas prices, finding parking and calculating the distance between points.
As their names imply, these simple “mapplications” provide some much-needed easy-to-use features to the Bing maps service. With the distance calculator, for example, you determine how long it takes to travel between two points, “as the crow flies,” driving or flying.
The gas price and parking apps help you determine where the cheapest gas stations are and who’s got an open parking space. The latter of these two is an app built by BestParking, which tracks parking lots around the U.S. You can even use the app to calculate how much that parking lot costs.
All of these map apps and more can be found via Bing Maps here.
