EA announces official 2010 FIFA World Cup game

Football fans rejoice, you can lead your team to World Cup glory months before this summer's tournament takes place as EA Sports announced the launch of the officially licensed 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa game.

Walking out on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and on mobile, the 2010 FIFA World Cup game will be the first football game to feature an online World Cup tournament. So if you are able to find friends in all competing 32 nations, you can have yourself a genuine World Cup dress-rehearsal while indulging in a bout of international footy banter.

If your team didn’t make it to South Africa, perhaps cruelly denied by the cunning hand of a Frenchman shall we say, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will feature all 199 teams that fought for qualification, leaving you to re-write football history all the way from the beginning of the qualification campaign.

Aside from what sounds like a potentially great online tournament element, the Wii version will feature a mode called Zakumi's Dream Team, which sees you build your team of World-Cup winning superstars by stealing opposition players after each of your hard-fought victories.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be available to buy on the 30th April 2010, which should be enough time to lead Capello and company to the Jules Rimet trophy three months before they actually do the business themselves.
