Good news for those who are in the market for a top tier Android tablet. Dell has just unveiled some new prices for its apparently struggling Android tablet, the Dell Streak.
It’s a pretty big price cut. Originally the unlocked 16GB Dell Streak was a fairly expensive investment, costing just about $580. Now with the $180 price cut, the base model Dell Streak will only set you back $400.
The only hitch is that you will have to wait till sometime in the middle of January for your Dell tablet to ship. Dell has listed a January 10 ship date on all new orders of the $399 Streak.
Are these new prices due to poor sales? Or is it Dell just deciding they want to stay competitive? Just last week Best Buy lowered the price on new Dell Streak to $100 with new 2-year contract.
At one point the Dell Streak was also thought to be a possible iPad killer, with it’s smaller size and ability to make voice calls. It seemed like a great device and great design. But since then, the Streak never really lived up to the hype. Personally I think it’s a cool little device. The short time I played around with it, I grew to like it.
So if you’re thinking about picking one of these up, now would be the time to order one. It’s available in a handful of colors, but don’t expect to see Froyo running on it. These will be shipping with Android 1.6, but the OTA update is available.
