Change in IRCTC tatkal booking timings

From July 10, 2012 reservation of tatkal tickets will start from 10 a.m. instead of 8 a.m.

The Railways on Friday said ‘no authorised agents will be allowed to book tatkal tickets during the first two hours.

Officials said separate tatkal booking counters will be opened. CCTV cameras will be installed to monitor irregularities.

New rules barred booking clerks from carrying mobiles inside the counters.

The pressure on the e-ticketing site would also reduce considerably.

At present, tatkal scheme is available in as many as 2,677 trains which means around 1.71 lakh berths available in tatkal scheme.

At Ottappalam, Shoranur Junction, Angadipuram, Tirur, Ferok, Kozhikode Satellite Reservation Centre, Wayanad, Malappuram, Vadakara, Mahe, Payyannur, Kanhangad, Kasargod, Mangalore Satellite Reservation Centre, Mangalore Junction and Pollachi stations, where only one counter is available, a separate queue will be formed for tatkal tickets. These tickets will be issued on priority from 10 am to 11 am, the release said.

At all locations where reserved and unreserved tickets are issued from the same counter, the existing practice of issuing reserved tickets and tatkal tickets giving priority to un-reserved tickets during train timings will continue, it added.
