The next generation iPhone 4 looks set to feature a 5-megapixel camera, as Omnivision – a company that provides Apple with image sensors – says it has secured orders for 5-megapixel image sensors for Apple’s next handset.
An industry source told Digitimes that Omnivision has won the contract to provide image sensors for Apple’s next iPhone. The supplier says that the order is for 5-megapixel sensors, which would put the iPhone on a par with its smartphone competition next year.

If Apple is trying to improve on their camera capabilities, then it seems likely that they could also be considering some form of flash.
Omnivision predicts that they will supply Apple with 40-45 million units in 2010 compared to an estimated 21 million this year.
