Amazon UK video games trade-in store launched

Amazon is spreading holiday cheer in a different way: it's launched the beta version of their Video Games Trade-In store, where users can put up their games to swap for Amazon credit.

"Trading-in with Amazon.co.uk is quick and easy, providing customers with a great way to exchange their old games and save money on future purchases", said Chris Poad, director of video games at Amazon.co.uk.

Before you finally agree to part with once-loved games, users will be able to see how much they'll get for them. If you like the amount of credit you will receive, you can go ahead with the transaction. The games can then be sent to a free-post address with a pre-printed delivery label, so you don't even have to shell out money for postage. The Amazon credit you receive can be used for any future purchases.

With no extra fees for this service and a transparent way of working, this might be a better option to get rid of old video games. An example of what Amazon's Video Games Trade-In store can get you: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 is worth £9 and Fifa '11 on the Xbox 360 gives you £18.68.
