FaceTime is one the more desired new features that come exclusively to the new iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th generation. For obvious reasons (No front-facing camera maybe?) FaceTime isn’t included on any of the older generation iPhones.
Once again a jailbroken iPhone is all you need to overcome such limitaions. The team at iPhoneIslam has but together a nice app called FaceIt-3GS, which lets any jailbroken iPhone 3Gs owner use the new FaceTime program. Before you get all excited, there is one big snag, FaceIt-3GS is only one-way. Meaning you can only recieve and view FaceTime streams from other FaceTime contacts. The hack does not let you send or stream video using the 3Gs’s camera. Anyone with a iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G can talk to you, you just can’t talk back.
There is no word if the developers are working on a fix or adding the video-out feature on any future updates. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a great hack, and could be useful to those who want view friends and family on the otherside of the world. Launch Cydia and check it out.
